UAE Businesses Face Strict Deadlines and Monthly Fines for E-Invoicing Rollout
The UAE’s Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has issued a firm reminder to businesses regarding the mandatory transition to the new e-invoicing system. Companies generating annual revenues of Dh50 million or more are required to appoint an Accredited Service Provider by October 30, 2026, with full system implementation set for January 1, 2027. For smaller entities earning below this threshold, the timeline is more flexible, requiring a provider to be selected by March 31, 2027, and full integration by July 1, 2027. Failure to adhere to these mandates will result in a monthly administrative penalty of Dh5,000, underscoring the government's commitment to accelerating the nation's digital tax infrastructure.
To facilitate a smooth transition, the FTA is actively encouraging companies to begin the integration process early through the EmaraTax platform. The authority has emphasized that this shift is designed to standardize and automate invoicing across the private sector, following successful testing during a recent pilot phase. To support this transition, officials are currently conducting a series of virtual and in-person awareness sessions to help business owners navigate the technical requirements and registration steps. Organizations are strongly advised to review the official legislation and guidance provided on the FTA website to ensure they remain compliant and avoid unnecessary financial penalties.
