Etihad Airways Extends Flight Suspensions to Saudi Arabia Amid Regional Security Concerns
Etihad Airways has officially extended its suspension of flights to several Saudi Arabian cities through November 5, citing ongoing security threats posed by Houthi rebel activities. The carrier confirmed that all scheduled services between Abu Dhabi and both Riyadh and Dammam remain grounded during this period. Furthermore, specific flights EY601, EY602, EY603, and EY604 connecting Abu Dhabi to Jeddah are also affected, although the airline noted that flights EY615 and EY611 currently continue to operate as scheduled.
The airline emphasized that the situation remains fluid, advising passengers to monitor the official Etihad website for real-time updates as additional schedule changes could occur. The decision follows a series of aggressive strikes on Saudi infrastructure, which local authorities report have resulted in 21 fatalities since early October. Tensions remain particularly high after a devastating missile strike on Riyadh’s international airport earlier this month, prompting the Houthi group to issue fresh warnings against using the facility despite the airport's recent efforts to restore normal operations.
