UAE weather update: Red alert issued for fog and rising temperatures

Thu, Jun 18, 2026(2h ago)UAE

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted a gradual rise in temperatures across the UAE this Thursday, June 18. While the skies are expected to remain mostly fair with occasional patches of cloud in eastern regions, the primary concern for early morning commuters is the persistent fog. Authorities have issued red and yellow alerts, urging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads until 9 am due to significantly reduced visibility.

As the day progresses, the heat will intensify, with thermometers hitting peaks of 42°C in Abu Dhabi and 40°C in Dubai. More extreme heat is anticipated in inland areas, where temperatures could soar as high as 48°C in Mezaira. Looking ahead to the night and early Friday morning, residents should prepare for humid conditions, particularly in western coastal and internal zones, where humidity levels could climb to 90 percent. Winds will remain light to moderate, keeping sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea relatively calm.
