Etihad Rail’s Passenger Network Hits Milestone with 120,000 Tickets Sold
In its inaugural month of operations, Etihad Rail has successfully moved 120,000 passengers across its national network. Spanning from September 30 to October 30, this high ridership between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah signals a clear shift in how UAE residents choose to commute. Adhraa Almansoori, Executive Director at Etihad Rail Mobility, expressed satisfaction with the early results, noting that the company’s primary goal is to establish the rail network as a reliable, safe, and habitual form of daily transportation for the public.
The network’s popularity is bolstered by its seamless integration with local transit systems, designed to simplify travel to final destinations. For instance, the Al Yalayis Station in Dubai offers a direct pedestrian link to the Metro, while Abu Dhabi stations provide dedicated shuttle buses to major landmarks like Yas Island and the ADNEC Centre. As the network continues to evolve, Etihad Rail plans to expand further by opening stations in the Al Dhafra region, with the final phase of the current project expected to conclude in early 2027 with the launch of the Sharjah University City station.
