Eight Islamic Nations Denounce Attacks on West Bank Mosques

Fri, Jun 19, 2026(3h ago)UAE

A coalition of foreign ministers from the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar has issued a unified condemnation regarding the recent surge in settler violence across the occupied West Bank. The joint statement specifically highlights the deliberate arson attacks on the Grand Mosque in Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazar'a al-Nubani. Local officials report that these incidents involved the burning of prayer facilities and the defacement of mosque walls with hostile graffiti, leaving behind significant structural damage and charred interiors.

The ministers categorically labeled these acts as severe violations of both international humanitarian law and the sanctity of religious sites. Holding Israel accountable as the occupying power, the group urged the international community to take decisive action to curb the ongoing escalation, end illegal settler activities, and ensure that those responsible for such crimes are held to account. Furthermore, the countries reiterated their firm commitment to the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the necessity of a sovereign Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, while warning that such unchecked violence continues to destabilize the region and obstruct pathways toward a lasting peace.
