Restoring Hope: UAE Launches Initiative to Provide Prosthetic Limbs for Gaza Amputees
The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has officially launched "Step of Hope," a compassionate UAE-led initiative designed to provide prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy to those who have lost limbs during the conflict in Gaza. Supported by a Dh350,000 contribution from the Authority of Social Contribution â Ma'an, the project utilizes the UAEâs specialized prosthetics and orthopedics workshop. Here, Emirati experts work alongside skilled People of Determination to craft high-quality artificial limbs, ensuring that recipients can regain their mobility and independence through a process that meets rigorous international standards.
This life-changing program is a key component of the broader "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3," marking a strategic shift from emergency medical aid to long-term recovery and self-sufficiency for war-affected individuals. With initial operations already underway at the UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish, Egypt, and building upon previous efforts like the UAE Field Hospital in Gaza, the initiative serves as a powerful blueprint for how national institutions can unite to create lasting social impact. By fostering a unique partnership between government bodies and community organizations, "Step of Hope" provides a sustainable model for delivering essential medical care to those who need it most.
