UAE Forecast: Summer Rain Expected Amidst Soaring 50°C Heat

Mon, Aug 3, 2026(2h ago)UAE

The UAE is set for a week of unusual weather as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts convective cloud formation and rain through Friday, August 7. Despite the heavy summer heat, moisture flowing from the Sea of Oman, combined with the cooling influence of the eastern mountains and rising surface temperatures, is creating the perfect recipe for localized thunderstorms. Forecasters expect this activity to be most prominent during the afternoons, particularly affecting eastern and southern regions, with some wind gusts potentially reaching up to 50kmph and kicking up dust in exposed areas.

Even with the looming rain, there will be no relief from the intense summer climate. Temperatures are expected to climb between 45°C and 50°C in inland areas, while coastal zones will see highs between 42°C and 47°C. Meteorologists explain that while the extreme heat triggers the necessary surface warming for cloud development, it is the specific alignment of humidity, atmospheric instability, and wind patterns that allows for these summer storms to occur. As these conditions persist, residents should prepare for a mix of sweltering heat and unpredictable rain showers throughout the remainder of the week.
