Etihad Rail Gains Traction as Passenger Numbers Soar
The UAE’s national railway is quickly becoming a staple for regional travel, with over 70,000 tickets sold since the passenger service officially launched. Rather than just being a one-time experience for curious travelers, the service has evolved into a reliable transportation choice for daily life. Etihad Rail officials noted that passengers are now routinely booking their trips an average of 12 days in advance, signaling that the network is successfully integrating into the regular planning routines for business commuters, families, and tourists alike.
As the network moves through its introductory phase, the operator plans to scale up its capacity while prioritizing safety and reliability. This growth trajectory is set to accelerate significantly over the coming months, with a series of new station openings scheduled through 2027. By adding major hubs such as Dubai, Al Dhaid, Liwa, and Sharjah to the network, Etihad Rail aims to bolster connectivity across the Emirates, transforming how people move between the country’s key population centers and leisure destinations.
