Dubai Expands Driving License Eye-Test Network to Over 400 Locations

Mon, Aug 3, 2026(45d ago)UAE

To streamline the process for motorists, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has significantly boosted its infrastructure by adding 100 new approved eye-testing centers. This 30 percent expansion brings the total number of facilities across the emirate to 434, a move designed to accommodate the rising demand for license applications and renewals. With over 850,000 vision tests conducted in the first half of 2026 alone, the city is prioritizing efficiency by integrating these clinics directly into the RTA’s digital framework.

The updated system is a major convenience for drivers, as eye exams now take only five to ten minutes to complete. Once finished, the results are instantly uploaded to the RTA’s database, allowing residents to complete their license renewal entirely online and store their digital permits in their smartphone wallets. Beyond this convenience, the RTA continues to emphasize road safety by pairing these accessible testing locations with a modern driver training curriculum that now covers advanced vehicle technologies, such as lane departure warnings and adaptive cruise control, ensuring that safety standards remain at the forefront of Dubai’s transportation system.
