Dr. Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, a 2008-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has officially stepped into his new role as the Consul General of India in Dubai, succeeding Satish Kumar Sivan. His appointment marks a significant transition, as he brings a highly diverse background to one of India’s most critical overseas missions. Interestingly, Dr. Reddy’s professional journey began far from the world of international relations; he is an alumnus of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and initially trained as a doctor before pivoting toward public service.

Since joining the diplomatic corps, Dr. Reddy has built a robust profile across Europe and South Asia. His career has spanned diplomatic tenures in Madrid and Geneva, as well as key administrative roles in India, including a stint as the Regional Passport Officer in Hyderabad. Most recently, he served the Telangana government as a Special Secretary for Investment Promotion, where he focused on fostering international business ties. This unique blend of experience—ranging from grassroots community welfare and passport services to high-level trade promotion—positions him well to manage the complex needs of the Indian diaspora and strengthen the vital economic partnership between India and the UAE.
