UAE Bolsters Energy Security Amid Rising Regional Tensions
In a move to shield its vital energy infrastructure from the unpredictability of the escalating conflict between Iran and the US-Israeli alliance, the UAE is ramping up its defensive logistics. Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei recently announced that the nation is proactively investing in diverse export routes, expanding international storage facilities, and enlarging its shipping fleet. While the minister acknowledged that the future path of the regional war remains impossible to forecast, he emphasized that the UAE is far better positioned now than in the past to maintain steady energy flows.
Central to this strategic shift is the expansion of the Fujairah export hub, located strategically outside the Strait of Hormuz, with a new pipeline currently under construction to double crude export capacity by next year. Speaking at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, Mazrouei highlighted that the current crisis is prompting energy firms to rethink their supply chains for greater resilience. By moving infrastructure closer to international customers and diversifying delivery methods, the UAE aims to ensure that its energy output remains consistent, despite the region's geopolitical volatility.
