Dubai to Roll Out Smart Monitoring for Delivery Bikes by 2027
In a major effort to enhance road safety and bring more structure to its booming delivery sector, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching a sophisticated smart monitoring system for delivery motorcycles. Starting in the second half of 2027, all delivery companies will be required to equip their fleets with IoT-enabled tracking devices and high-tech cameras connected to a centralized digital platform. This transition marks a shift from traditional oversight to a proactive, data-driven approach, allowing authorities to monitor real-time rider behavior—such as speeding, harsh braking, and sudden acceleration—with unprecedented accuracy.
To ensure a smooth transition, the RTA has made the installation optional until mid-2027, providing businesses ample time to upgrade their fleets and integrate their systems. Beyond mere enforcement, the platform is designed to empower delivery operators by offering them valuable insights into their own performance, helping them identify risky patterns and provide better training for their riders. By combining smart analytics with collaborative efforts between the RTA and Dubai Police, the initiative aims to boost overall service quality, reduce accidents, and foster a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone sharing Dubai’s busy roads.
