Drivers navigating the City Walk and Al Safa areas should prepare for significant travel adjustments as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officially begins construction on a massive road improvement project. To facilitate the work, traffic on Al Safa Street has been shifted onto newly constructed parallel routes in both directions. The RTA is focusing on streamlining flow by upgrading the Al Satwa and Al Multaqa intersection, which includes removing a traditional signalized junction and replacing it with more efficient access points and dedicated free-flowing U-turn lanes. Commuters are encouraged to pay close attention to new signage and speed limits to navigate these changes smoothly.

This construction effort is part of a broader vision to drastically reduce commute times in one of Dubai's busiest hubs, taking the transit duration along this corridor from 12 minutes down to just three. Once finished, the project will expand the road from three lanes to four in each direction and introduce a sophisticated network of two bridges and two tunnels. These additions are designed to double the road's capacity from 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour, significantly easing congestion near landmarks like the Coca-Cola Arena. Beyond vehicle efficiency, the development also incorporates pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, and landscaped urban spaces, aiming to create a more integrated and accessible environment for the surrounding residential and commercial communities.
