New UAE Agricultural Award Categories to Boost Market Access and Knowledge Sharing

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The fifth cycle of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award is set to launch with a prize pool of Dh10 million, introducing key updates designed to solve ongoing challenges for local producers. Recognizing that marketing remains a significant hurdle for UAE farmers and livestock breeders, officials have unveiled the "Best Supporting Marketing Outlet" category to encourage retail businesses to prioritize local products. Furthermore, the new "Agricultural Impact Maker" category aims to formalize mentorship within the industry, rewarding successful farmers who open their properties as practical learning hubs for peers looking to adopt high-standard agricultural practices.

These strategic changes follow a comprehensive impact assessment conducted by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa), which revealed that previous award cycles have successfully fostered innovation, resource efficiency, and increased participation among women and youth. By transitioning from a simple competition to a management and educational tool, the award now encourages applicants to treat the entry process as a developmental exercise. With 97 accompanying competitions now available—a significant increase from the previous cycle—the program continues to evolve into a vital platform that not only celebrates excellence but actively equips the UAE’s agricultural community with the skills and market reach needed for long-term success.
