Syria’s Path to Regional Stability Through Economic Integration

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(56m ago)UAE

During the Arab Media Forum in Dubai, Syrian President Al Sharaa emphasized that his country is transitioning from a zone of conflict into a vital strategic and economic hub. By highlighting ongoing collaborations with Emirati investors, including DP World’s work at the Port of Tartous, he underscored how infrastructure development is essential for re-establishing Syria as a bridge for trade and energy supply chains across West Asia. Al Sharaa noted that this stability is not merely a domestic goal but a shared regional interest, suggesting that international cooperation and substantial foreign investment are critical to unlocking Syria's potential as a regional partner.

Beyond infrastructure, the Syrian leadership is focused on the difficult task of rebuilding public trust and restoring state institutions that were weakened by years of turmoil. Al Sharaa stressed that a successful recovery relies on inclusive governance that embraces all citizens, regardless of their background or beliefs, while leveraging technology to improve public administration. By revitalizing sectors like tourism and fostering an environment for commercial growth, Syria aims to move past its recent history, positioning itself as a peaceful, stable, and essential player in the broader international community.
