Saudi Arabia’s First Ultra-Luxury Train: A Theatrical Journey Through the Desert

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(57m ago)UAE

Saudi Arabia is set to redefine luxury travel with the launch of "Dream of the Desert," an ultra-luxury train experience scheduled to debut in late 2027. Far beyond a simple transit service, the project is being positioned as a curated, theatrical production that transports guests through the Kingdom’s most remote and untouched landscapes. With just 12 carriages and 34 suites accommodating a maximum of 72 passengers, the venture promises an intimate, high-end atmosphere. Prices will start at approximately Dh30,000 per night, with interested travelers already able to secure a spot on the priority list via a refundable deposit.

The journey will span over 1,000 kilometers, traversing northern routes from Riyadh toward the Jordanian border. Guests will explore hidden gems, including extinct volcanoes, lush oases, and ancient UNESCO heritage sites like the Marid Castle, most of which remain largely unfamiliar even to local residents. To complement the breathtaking scenery, the experience will feature immersive, Broadway-style performances that bring the rich history and myths of the region to life. As part of the broader Saudi Vision 2030, this train aims to unveil the Kingdom’s unexplored beauty, offering both locals and international enthusiasts a unique, story-driven perspective of the desert.
