Dubai to Host Emergency Drill at Aerial Taxi Hub on September 16
On Wednesday, September 16, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will host a comprehensive emergency drill at the Aerial Taxi Vertiport (VDX). Running from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, the exercise is designed to test the city’s crisis response protocols. The operation will be a multi-agency effort, featuring coordination between the Dubai Resilience Centre, Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Ambulance, and other key government departments to ensure seamless collaboration in the event of an actual emergency.
This initiative underscores Dubai’s ongoing commitment to becoming a global leader in urban air mobility as it prepares to integrate air taxis into its public transport network. The VDX facility, situated near Dubai International Airport, recently gained regulatory approval for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) operations. With plans to develop three additional sites, the city is scaling its infrastructure to eventually support a hub capable of serving 170,000 passengers annually, equipped with state-of-the-art charging stations and passenger processing areas.
