Dubai is set to launch an ambitious 80km infrastructure project known as the "Fourth Corridor," a strategic road network designed to significantly ease congestion and slash commute times across the UAE. Serving as the fourth major artery alongside Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road, this new highway will be developed in two distinct phases. Once completed, the impact on daily travel will be dramatic: the commute between Sharjah’s Al Shnouf Road and the Dubai-Al Ain Road is expected to drop from 35 minutes to just 14, while the subsequent stretch toward Abu Dhabi will see travel times cut by more than half.

Beyond simple speed, this massive undertaking—featuring 12 lanes, 72 bridges, and 17 tunnels—is engineered to reshape the logistics and urban landscape of the region. By diverting heavy truck traffic away from congested city centers and passing key landmarks like Al Maktoum International Airport and the Etihad Rail route, the project aims to improve overall road safety and support the growth of emerging residential areas. With the first phase already estimated at Dh3.5 billion, the corridor will not only integrate seamlessly with the existing federal road network but also provide the essential capacity to accommodate millions of future residents and commercial transport needs.
