UAE Denounces Attack on Qatari LNG Tanker in Arabian Gulf
The United Arab Emirates has issued a stern condemnation regarding the recent assault on the Al Maayeda, a liquefied natural gas tanker operated by the Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat). According to officials, unidentified objects struck the vessel while it was navigating the Arabian Gulf this past Friday. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such acts represent a significant escalation that threatens the security of international waterways and global energy stability.
Fortunately, Nakilat has confirmed that the tanker remains fully operational and under control, with no injuries reported among the crew or any damage to the environment. Despite the lack of immediate physical harm, the UAE has reaffirmed its solidarity with Qatar, advocating for the strict adherence to international maritime law. This incident highlights the growing volatility in the region, particularly as concerns mount over attempts to disrupt shipping routes and energy supplies through critical maritime passages like the Strait of Hormuz.
