Saudi Arabia Suspends 21 Umrah Agencies Over Quality and Compliance Failures

Sat, Jun 13, 2026(3h ago)World

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently announced the suspension of 21 Umrah service providers as part of a broader initiative to elevate service standards and ensure strict regulatory adherence. This decision follows comprehensive post-season evaluations that highlighted significant performance gaps among several operators. Out of the total suspended firms, 15 were flagged for failing to meet essential performance benchmarks, while the remaining six faced disciplinary action for direct violations of the kingdom’s governing policies.

These measures are rooted in a sophisticated monitoring system designed to foster healthy competition and uphold the high-quality experience promised under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. By enforcing these strict oversight protocols, the Ministry aims to protect the rights of pilgrims and ensure that visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque receive top-tier service. This move follows a similar wave of regulatory actions earlier this year, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance stance toward sub-par performance and its commitment to continuously refining the ecosystem for international travel agencies operating within the sector.
