Denmark Hits Record-Breaking Heat as Temperatures Soar

Sun, Jun 28, 2026(1d ago)World

Denmark has officially entered its history books for all the wrong reasons, with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) confirming that the nation reached an all-time high temperature of 36.6ÂșC on Saturday. This sweltering heat, measured just north of Odense, officially surpasses the country's previous record of 36.4ÂșC, which had stood since August 1975. As a heatwave grips the Scandinavian region, meteorologists have cautioned that these dangerous conditions may persist or even intensify as the afternoon progresses.

The extreme weather has significantly impacted major public events, most notably the Roskilde music festival. With roughly 50,000 attendees gathered for the event, festival organizers have scrambled to install additional water stations to help participants cope with the unbearable conditions. Meanwhile, the heat wave is affecting the broader region, with Swedish authorities issuing similar warnings as temperatures in southern Sweden are also expected to climb toward 35ÂșC.
