Andhra Pradesh Reports 12 COVID-19 Cases and Four Fatalities in Recent Spike
Health officials in Andhra Pradesh have reported 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases between June 26 and July 16, resulting in four deaths. According to Veera Pandiyan, the state’s Health Secretary and Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, all four individuals who passed away were managing significant underlying health issues, such as diabetes, hypertension, and kidney disease. In response to the development, authorities have sent five samples to the National Institute of Virology in Pune to determine which specific variant is currently circulating.
While these infections have been identified in various regions, including Guntur, Kadapa, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam, officials have confirmed that there are no signs of localized outbreaks or clusters. The state government remains vigilant, with medical facilities placed on alert, though Pandiyan emphasized that there is no cause for public alarm. Meanwhile, India has recorded a total of 339 cases since the start of July, with states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra reporting the highest numbers as health departments continue to monitor the situation across the country.
