Critical Infrastructure Targeted in Kuwait Amid Escalating Iranian Strikes

Sat, Jul 18, 2026(45d ago)World

Kuwait is currently grappling with the aftermath of a targeted assault on its critical infrastructure, as Iranian strikes have successfully hit a key power generation and water desalination facility. The attack triggered a significant fire at the site, forcing officials to immediately shut down several power units to safeguard the facility and prevent a widespread collapse of the national electricity grid. In response to the emergency, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has launched extensive firefighting and repair efforts, while urgently requesting that citizens limit their power usage during peak daylight hours to stabilize the system.

This incident marks the second consecutive day of such strikes, further heightening tensions in the region following the collapse of a brief ceasefire. The situation remains volatile as Kuwait’s military reports ongoing drone threats, prompting the government to secure its airspace and force major airlines, including Kuwait Airways, to reschedule or cancel flights. These hostilities represent a dangerous escalation in the conflict between the US and Iran, leaving the nation on high alert as authorities work to manage the infrastructure crisis and protect public safety.
