India Clears Boeing 787 Fuel Switch After Safety Concerns

Thu, Jul 30, 2026(2h ago)World

Following concerns raised by pilots on an Air India flight from London to Bengaluru in February, the Indian government launched an investigation into a potential defect within the Boeing 787’s fuel control system. After a preliminary assessment, officials confirmed that Boeing’s detailed examination of the specific switch revealed no underlying abnormalities. To ensure absolute safety, Deputy Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol noted that the entire thrust control module is currently undergoing further, more rigorous testing at a Boeing facility.

This incident has drawn significant attention due to the heightened scrutiny surrounding the fuel regulation systems on Boeing Dreamliners. The focus on these components remains particularly intense following the tragic Air India 787 crash in Gujarat last June, which resulted in the loss of 260 lives. As investigations continue, authorities remain committed to verifying the reliability of these critical flight systems to prevent future malfunctions.
