Bahrain has officially declined an invitation to join a proposed meeting in Oman aimed at discussing the future of the Strait of Hormuz. While Iran had signaled its intention to host talks in Muscat regarding the strategically vital waterway, the Bahraini foreign ministry stated that it would not participate in any collective discussions with Tehran until full diplomatic relations between the two nations are restored. Bahrain severed ties with Iran in 2016 and, unlike Saudi Arabia, has yet to normalize diplomatic channels.

In its statement, the Bahraini government emphasized that regional security cannot be maintained through a "policy of appeasement." The ministry expressed strong concerns over recent infrastructure attacks across the Gulf and maintained that the Strait of Hormuz must remain an open corridor for international shipping, free from discrimination, unauthorized fees, or restrictive permits. Tehran, which has been seeking to solidify its influence over the passage, is currently navigating complex negotiations regarding the waterway's future amid ongoing regional tensions.
