Qatar Recalls Ferinject Over Quality Concerns
The Qatari Ministry of Public Health has officially issued a recall for all batches of the intravenous iron medication Ferinject (ferric carboxymaltose). This decision follows rigorous laboratory testing which revealed that the product failed to meet the manufacturer's established chemical specifications. Health authorities have urged any patients currently in possession of this medication to discontinue its use immediately to ensure their safety.
This move follows a recent trend of pharmaceutical oversight in the region, with Qatar also pulling Isotears-Plus eye drops and Clasgen drops from shelves due to manufacturing and quality control issues. Similarly, the UAE has taken proactive measures, recalling specific face masks and infant health products like "Babiesâ Magic Tea" due to safety and contamination concerns. These actions underscore a broader regional commitment to maintaining strict pharmaceutical standards and protecting public health through consistent monitoring and rapid intervention.
