Samsung Smashes Sales Records with Latest Foldable Lineup

Wed, Aug 5, 2026(1h ago)Business

Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone series has officially made history in the company's home market, setting a new benchmark for pre-order performance. Between July 28 and August 3, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 pulled in an impressive 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea. This seven-day total officially overtakes the 2019 Galaxy Note10 series, which held the previous record with 1.38 million units, and significantly outperforms the figures set by last year's models. During this peak period, devices were being ordered at an incredible rate of roughly 140 units every minute.

The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 proved to be the crowd favorite, capturing about 70 percent of all pre-orders. Much of this interest is being credited to the phone's refined design, which includes a wider 4:3 display ratio that improves the experience for media consumption, alongside a new, lightweight 201g frame and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Furthermore, the data indicates that these foldables are finally converting long-time traditional smartphone users, as more customers than ever are making the switch from standard slab-style handsets to the foldable experience.
