Etihad Airways to Expand Workforce by 7,000 Staff by 2035

Tue, Sep 15, 2026(34m ago)Business

Etihad Airways has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy, aiming to boost its total headcount to 22,000 employees by 2035. This goal represents a significant 45 percent increase from its current workforce, fueled by a consistent 20 percent annual expansion in operations. Even amidst regional instability, the airline has remained steadfast in its hiring efforts, successfully onboarding 700 new staff members during recent disruptions by digitizing its recruitment processes. As the company continues this upward trajectory, it expects to finish the current year with approximately 15,000 employees, with a strong focus on filling essential frontline roles such as pilots, engineers, and technicians.

A central pillar of this growth is the airline’s commitment to Emiratisation and international talent acquisition. Through dedicated cadet and internship programs, Etihad is actively fostering local talent, with over 300 UAE nationals expected to join the company this year alone. Simultaneously, the airline is leveraging sophisticated AI tools to manage an overwhelming volume of interest—including over 100,000 applications for cabin crew positions—to identify the best candidates efficiently. With aggressive global recruitment drives planned for Africa and China, the airline continues to position itself as a top-tier employer by offering rapid career progression and a diverse, forward-thinking workplace culture.
