The Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) is set to roll out a groundbreaking AI tool known as SARAAB by the end of this year, designed specifically to identify deepfake content. By utilizing heat maps to pinpoint manipulated facial features, the model can scrutinize entire videos—even those only partially altered—with a 91 percent accuracy rate, ranking it among the most effective systems globally. The software will be hosted on the open-source platform Hugging Face, allowing the community to inspect and improve upon the code, marking a significant milestone as the first government-developed model of its kind in the Arab region.

Beyond combatting digital misinformation, the DESC is strengthening the local cybersecurity ecosystem through several new professional initiatives unveiled at the recent Gisec Global exhibition. These include the Dubai Cyber Skills Framework, which standardizes training and career paths for security professionals, and the ISR Auditor Certification Program, designed to ensure high-quality compliance assessments. According to DESC Chief Executive Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, these efforts reflect Dubai’s proactive approach to technology, aiming to create scalable, homegrown solutions that set international benchmarks for security and innovation.
