UAE and Benin Forge New Economic Partnership to Expand Trade
In a significant move to bolster international cooperation, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Benin have officially announced a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The deal was finalized during a high-level visit by Benin’s President, Romuald Wadagni, to the UAE, where he met with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Both leaders emphasized that this partnership marks a crucial milestone in their bilateral relations, aiming to unlock new avenues for investment and sustainable economic growth that will benefit both nations.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to position itself as a central hub for global logistics and trade. By slashing customs duties and streamlining regulatory procedures, the agreement is set to enhance market access across diverse sectors, including renewable energy, technology, and food processing. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, highlighted the impressive upward trajectory of their non-oil trade, noting that the agreement serves as a foundation for a more ambitious economic future. By removing trade barriers, the pact is expected to fortify supply chains and provide substantial support to businesses, ranging from small enterprises to large-scale corporations.
