Tragic Dubai Minibus Crash: Company Mourns Loss of Seven Employees
The company operating the minibus involved in Sunday’s fatal accident on Emirates Road has described the tragedy as an unimaginable loss, noting that the driver—an Indian expat who survived the collision—had an exemplary nine-year safety record. According to a company representative, the driver is currently struggling with profound trauma, as the seven victims who perished in the crash were not only his colleagues but his close friends and roommates. The accident occurred while the workers were returning to Sharjah after completing a shift, and officials believe the high impact was partly due to many passengers being asleep when the minibus struck a stationary truck on the road.
The seven deceased, identified as Saleem Sayyed, Tirupathi Gollapalli, Abdul Rafiq, Abdul Rasheed, Markandy Chauhan, and Mohammed Saqib from India, along with Samuvel Rengasami from Sri Lanka, ranged in age from 23 to 51. The company is now dedicating all its resources to supporting the survivors and facilitating the swift repatriation of the victims' remains to their grieving families. While five of the nine injured workers have been discharged, four remain hospitalized, with two in critical condition. In response to the crisis, Burjeel Holdings has pledged a support package to assist those affected by this devastating event, as the company works to ensure the families receive appropriate compensation and closure.
