Tragic Repatriation for Indian Expat Murdered Over Social Media Dispute
The body of an Indian expatriate who was fatally attacked in Sharjah following an online confrontation is set to be repatriated to his home state of Kerala this Thursday, June 11. Salam Pappinissery, the CEO of Yab Legal Services, confirmed that the Sharjah forensic department will release the remains by the afternoon, with funeral prayers scheduled to take place at the department's mosque later that day. His brother will accompany the mortal remains on an Air India Express flight, which is slated to depart for Kannur at 10:40 pm.
The victim, a 40-year-old juice shop worker in Dubai, had reportedly been involved in a long-standing online feud with the suspect. The conflict escalated during a heated TikTok live stream, where the two exchanged insults, ultimately leading the suspect to challenge the victim to a meeting in Sharjah. According to a forensic report, the man died after sustaining a fatal leg wound during the encounter. He is survived by his wife and a young son, and his family has received assistance from Keralaâs Minister for Agriculture, T. Siddique, who helped expedite the legal and logistical arrangements for the return of his body.
