UAE Mountainous Regions Come Alive After Refreshing Summer Rainfall

Sun, Jun 14, 2026(90d ago)UAE

Residents in the UAE were treated to a welcome reprieve from the scorching summer heat this past Sunday, June 14, as rainfall swept across the country's Eastern Region. The downpour was particularly stunning in Khor Fakkan, where the rugged mountains were transformed by the sudden arrival of natural waterfalls. As streams surged down the hillsides, local families gathered to enjoy the spectacle, with children happily splashing in the flowing waters near Sheikh Khalifa Street.

While the rain provided a picturesque moment, it also brought challenging conditions, with heavy precipitation obscuring visibility for drivers traveling toward Fujairah and causing local wadis to overflow. These summer rains, often driven by monsoon pressure from India, are a familiar occurrence in the eastern emirates. Although the recent showers were largely a pleasant relief, they serve as a reminder of the region's volatile climate, which can occasionally shift from clear skies to intense, disruptive weather patterns like those seen during the significant storms earlier this past March.
