Summer Travel Trends in the UAE: Why Most Residents Are Holding Off on Booking

Wed, Jun 17, 2026(45d ago)UAE

A recent study by Skyscanner reveals that the typical UAE summer getaway is undergoing a significant shift, with nearly half of all travelers still in the midst of planning their upcoming vacations. While about 30 percent have already secured their trips, a mere 6 percent have opted out of travel entirely. This trend is driven by a preference for flexibility and convenience, as residents increasingly hold off on booking to better coordinate group schedules, compare various flight paths, and manage budgets in a high-demand market.

Beyond the logistics of scheduling, modern travelers in the UAE are prioritizing unique, experience-led adventures. Over 86 percent of those surveyed expressed a strong desire to venture off the beaten path, steering clear of popular social media hotspots. Despite the challenges of rising airfares and the stress of group planning, experts suggest that those who haven't booked yet can still manage costs by opting for mid-week flights or choosing connecting routes. Ultimately, by staying adaptable with travel dates and airports, residents can still find a balance between convenience and affordability this summer.
