Dubai Launches Major Initiative to Safeguard Kids Online
To address the rising concerns surrounding digital safety, Dubai has officially launched a new program titled "A Child’s Right to a Balanced Digital Life." Spearheaded by the Community Development Authority (CDA) in partnership with Digital Dubai and Sage Clinics, this initiative is part of the broader "Year of the Family" celebrations. The program aims to create a healthier digital environment for the next generation, with ambitious plans to educate over 5,000 children, 1,000 parents, and 480 teachers within its first year. Furthermore, it will empower 300 "Child Rights Friends"—young ambassadors tasked with promoting positive online habits among their peers.
At its core, the initiative emphasizes that digital safety is a collective duty rather than a solo endeavor. Reem Al Awabed of the CDA highlighted that the program provides families and educators with the essential tools to navigate today’s rapid technological landscape. Dr. Mahmoud Al Ali of Sage Clinics clarified that the goal isn't to disconnect children from technology entirely, but rather to foster a balanced approach that supports their psychological and social well-being. By focusing on education and awareness, Dubai hopes to strengthen family bonds and ensure that youth can interact with the digital world in a safe, sustainable, and productive manner.
