Pakistani Expat Turns Lottery Win into Life-Changing Support for Family

Mon, Aug 3, 2026(1h ago)UAE

For Abdul Salam Muhammad Ashraf, a 55-year-old limousine chauffeur from Abu Dhabi, a Dh100,000 lottery win wasn't a ticket to luxury, but a vital lifeline for his family. After hitting the jackpot in a "Lucky Day" draw last year, the Pakistani expatriate resisted the urge to splurge on personal indulgences. Instead, he channeled every dirham into essential life milestones and health needs, including funding his son’s wedding celebrations and covering the costs of his own successful surgery.

Even months after the windfall, Abdul Salam remains grounded, continuing his work as a driver without making any major lifestyle shifts. Beyond his immediate family, he extended his generosity by helping his daughter purchase a vehicle back home and contributing to charitable causes. Reflecting on the experience, he noted that the true value of the prize wasn't in personal wealth, but in the peace of mind it brought. Moving forward, he hopes to continue this spirit of giving by supporting more families in his hometown of Sahiwal, proving that the most meaningful rewards are those shared with others.
