Dubai cracks down on illicit social media visa services
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has launched a targeted campaign to shut down illegal social media accounts that were falsely promoting visa and residency services. By monitoring digital platforms, authorities identified several entities operating outside the law, which posed a significant risk of exploitation and misinformation for residents. Officials emphasized that this crackdown is a strategic move to protect the integrity of government processes and ensure that the public remains shielded from fraudulent service providers.
Lt. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, highlighted that maintaining public trust in government systems is a top priority, and that all residency procedures should be conducted exclusively through verified, official channels. To prevent future incidents, the authority is urging residents to exercise extreme caution by avoiding suspicious online advertisements and refraining from sharing personal information or making payments to unaccredited third parties. Community members are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspected fraudulent activity to the relevant authorities to help maintain a secure residency ecosystem.
