Everything You Need to Know About Dubai’s New Dh2-Billion Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially launched the ambitious Dh2-billion Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor, a major infrastructure initiative designed to overhaul east-west connectivity across Dubai. Spanning 12 kilometers, this expansive project aims to streamline traffic flow by linking critical arteries, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, and Emirates Road. By integrating a complex network of seven bridges and eight tunnels, the RTA intends to boost road capacity by 16,000 vehicles per hour, effectively slashing travel times by more than half for commuters traveling between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, this strategic development is set to benefit roughly 650,000 people living and working in key communities like Dubai Hills, Global Village, and Nad Al Sheba. Beyond mere vehicle capacity, the project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan by incorporating 12.5 kilometers of dedicated cycling tracks that link Al Qudra to Jumeirah. By easing the burden on major highways and proactively addressing the needs of a growing population, this corridor stands as a cornerstone of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, ensuring the emirate’s infrastructure remains world-class and sustainable for years to come.
