UAE Empowers Young Leaders Through New Global Water Initiative
The UAE has officially introduced the Global Youth Water Envoys Programme, a strategic initiative designed to cultivate a new generation of leaders capable of influencing international water policy. Launched during the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York, the program aims to prepare up to 100 young delegates—prioritizing those from water-stressed regions in Africa, the Arab world, and the Asia-Pacific—to tackle the global water crisis. Led by the Arab Youth Centre in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the effort focuses on accelerating progress toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 regarding clean water and sanitation.
From September to November, selected participants will undergo rigorous online training in climate, governance, and international policy before joining official UN proceedings. Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi and Abdulla Balalaa emphasized that the program is not just a training course but a vital platform for youth to contribute to global water diplomacy and provide innovative solutions for the future. With applications now open for individuals aged 18 to 35, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between young activists and high-level decision-makers, ensuring their voices are central to the discussions at the upcoming UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi this December.
