Dubai’s Green Thumb Winners: Dh300,000 Awarded for Sustainable Home Gardens

Fri, Jul 17, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The third edition of Dubai’s "Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden" competition has concluded, with Dubai Municipality awarding Dh300,000 to ten standout winners. Chosen from a pool of over 100 entries, these gardeners were recognized for integrating eco-friendly practices like solar lighting, advanced composting, and climate-resilient landscaping into their private spaces. The initiative, which aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, aims to inspire residents to take an active role in increasing the city’s green cover and fostering environmental stewardship at the grassroots level.

Leading the pack was Nafisa Al Falasi, who took home the top prize of Dh100,000 for her exceptional use of organic fertilization and climate-adapted plant diversity. She was followed by Mariam Al Nuaimi and Jamal Al Matari, who impressed judges with their efficient waste management and smart irrigation systems. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Al Awadi, Director of the Agriculture Department, noted that these efforts are vital for promoting biodiversity and enhancing the city’s overall quality of life. By evaluating gardens on metrics like water efficiency and soil health, the municipality hopes to cultivate a lasting culture of sustainability that extends well beyond individual backyards.
