Dubai Authorities Dismiss Reports of Downtown Explosions

Fri, Jul 17, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The Dubai Media Office has officially dismissed reports claiming that explosions were heard in the city’s Downtown district, labeling the information as entirely false. The clarification came in response to a Reuters news alert that cited witness accounts of loud "booms" in the area. Emirati officials were quick to address the situation, urging both the general public and media outlets to rely solely on verified information from official government channels and cautioning against the dangers of spreading unconfirmed rumors.

In a stern warning posted on X, the media regulatory authority emphasized that legal action would be pursued against any organizations found responsible for disseminating incorrect news regarding the Emirate. Providing further context on the nation's security, officials noted that the UAE has remained free of any aerial threats within its borders for more than two months. While there have been past incidents involving interception operations—most notably in mid-July when the Ministry of Defence addressed sounds related to threats intercepted outside of UAE territory—authorities reiterated that the current situation in the country remains stable and secure.
