Breaking Barriers: The Women Redefining Delivery Work in the UAE

Sat, Jul 18, 2026(4h ago)UAE

For years, the UAE’s delivery sector has been viewed as an exclusively male domain, but a new initiative by Talabat is shifting that narrative. By welcoming its first group of 20 female riders, the company is proving that professional logistics is open to anyone with the drive to succeed. For these women, the decision to join the fleet is rooted in a desire for financial independence and the pursuit of a stable future for their families. Whether they are single mothers striving to support their children or experienced riders bringing years of expertise to the streets, these women are proving that there is deep dignity in honest, hard work.

Despite facing initial skepticism from family members and societal expectations, these riders remain focused on their goals. Riders like Haseena Bibi Mehroban Shah, Oliver Nankwanga, and Suhairah Nantongo find motivation in the support of their communities and the positive reactions they receive from customers. They emphasize that the safety and security of the UAE have empowered them to take on these roles with confidence. By showing that determination is the only true measure of a worker's capability, they hope to inspire other women to enter underrepresented fields and shatter the outdated notion that certain jobs are reserved for men.
