Dubai Traffic Improvements: New Lanes Open on Ras Al Khor and Al Khail Roads

Wed, Jul 29, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Commuters in Dubai can look forward to smoother daily travels as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officially unveils significant upgrades to both Ras Al Khor Road and Al Khail Road. By introducing new lanes and refining entry and exit points, the RTA has successfully boosted overall road capacity by 33 percent. These strategic enhancements, which have already improved road efficiency by 20 percent, are designed to alleviate congestion in some of the city's busiest corridors during peak hours.

On Ras Al Khor Road, the stretch from Financial Centre Street toward Al Khail Road has been widened from three lanes to four, a change expected to cut travel times by up to 20 percent. Similarly, Al Khail Road has received a new one-kilometer lane heading toward Abu Dhabi to better manage traffic flow. These adjustments are part of a broader RTA initiative to implement rapid infrastructure solutions, ensuring the city’s road network remains capable of supporting Dubai’s continuous urban growth while providing a more seamless experience for residents and tourists alike.
