Dubai Launches New JLT Electric Bus Service for Easier Commutes

Sat, Aug 1, 2026(10h ago)UAE

Commuters in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) are breathing a sigh of relief as a new electric bus service officially hits the roads, effectively eliminating the long, sweltering walks previously required to reach office clusters from the Metro. For many, like Indian expat Venkatesh, the transition from the Sobha Realty Metro Station to a desk in Cluster V meant a tiresome 15-minute trek. With the introduction of this new link, passengers can now hop on a bus that connects directly to the eastern and western clusters, turning a stressful daily walk into a quick, climate-controlled ride.

The service operates on two distinct loops, with the first covering the western side near DMCC Metro Station and the second serving the eastern side via Sobha Realty Metro Station. While the standard fare is set at Dh3, early adopters were pleasantly surprised to find the rides free during the launch weekend. As the service settles into its regular schedule, commuters are already suggesting that the introduction of monthly passes or prepaid options would be a welcome addition for those who rely on the bus for their daily journey to work. With buses running every 20 to 30 minutes, this initiative is a significant step toward making Dubai’s transit network more accessible and comfortable for everyone.
