In a strategic move to bolster the e-commerce sector, Dubai Customs has officially raised the duty-free threshold for imported goods to Dh1,000. This updated policy, which went into effect on August 3, 2026, aims to lower operational costs for businesses and enhance the overall competitiveness of the local digital marketplace. While this exemption covers a wide array of products, it notably excludes tobacco, electronic smoking devices, nicotine-based liquids, and alcoholic beverages.

Beyond the threshold adjustment, the new regulations also provide more flexibility for businesses handling returns. Companies can now seek duty exemptions on B2C returns for up to 60 days, provided they can verify that the original customs duties were paid. These changes are designed to streamline trade operations, with the Client Happiness Management department overseeing business registrations and the Legal Affairs team tasked with resolving any disputes. By simplifying these administrative processes, Dubai continues to cement its status as a growing regional hub for online retail, even as broader market trends fluctuate.
