UAE Health Authorities Launch Campaign to Improve Medication Safety

Wed, Nov 4, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Health officials in the UAE have officially launched the "Speak Up .. Stay Safe" campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging patients, caregivers, and medical professionals to proactively report any side effects experienced from medications. Aligned with the global MedSafetyWeek 2026, the program highlights that a drug's safety profile continues to be monitored even after it hits the market. By using the specialized EDE DAWA smart tool, residents can easily log their experiences, which are then analyzed by specialists to identify potential risks and ensure the ongoing protection of public health.

Dr. Ruqaya Aqeel Al Bastaki of the Emirates Drug Establishment emphasized that medicine safety is a shared responsibility that shouldn't be limited to special events. The initiative involves a broad coalition of health authorities, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, all working together to foster a culture of reporting. Through various educational workshops and webinars tailored for healthcare staff, students, and pharmaceutical companies, the campaign aims to integrate vigilance into the standard practice of medication use, ultimately leading to safer healthcare outcomes for everyone across the Emirates.
