Dubai Launches Next-Gen Nol-Jaywan Cards for Seamless Transport and Payments
Dubai is set to revolutionize the daily commute this November with the launch of the new Nol-Jaywan card, a pilot initiative designed to merge public transport ticketing with a national digital payment system. Developed through a collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Al Etihad Paymentsâa subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAEâthis project integrates the existing Nol transit network with Jaywan, the UAEâs homegrown payment infrastructure. The trial phase will initially cover taxis and public parking, offering a glimpse into a future where one card facilitates both transit fares and everyday retail transactions.
By leveraging technology from Indiaâs RuPay system, the Jaywan platform creates a robust, locally managed digital environment that extends far beyond simple transportation. Users of the new cards will benefit from seamless smartphone integration across both iOS and Android platforms, along with access to over 120 exclusive discounts and promotional offers. While the RTA has not yet announced a timeline for a full rollout or the replacement process for existing cards, the initiative marks a significant milestone in the UAEâs push toward a unified, sustainable digital economy that simplifies financial interactions for residents across the country.
