Dubai Airports Maintains Workforce Stability Despite Regional Turmoil
Despite the significant disruptions caused by regional military conflicts, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths has confirmed that the company did not resort to any job cuts. Reflecting on the hardships faced during the pandemic, Griffiths expressed deep pride in his team, noting that the staff’s unwavering commitment and resilience have been instrumental in navigating these recent geopolitical challenges. He described the employees' dedication during such a volatile period as truly humbling, marking a sharp contrast to the difficult downsizing decisions that were unfortunately necessary during the global health crisis.
While the aviation sector is currently on a steady path to recovery—evidenced by rising monthly passenger traffic—the regional instability has prompted the airport to recalibrate its long-term growth forecasts. Dubai International (DXB) reported 31.5 million passengers for the first half of the year, and although growth projections for 2026 have been adjusted downward, optimism remains high. Griffiths noted that the airport expects to return to its full schedule by the end of the third quarter and is confident that passenger volumes will reach the 100-million milestone by early 2027.
