An Abu Dhabi court has ordered a woman to pay Dh60,000 to her former fiancé after she called off their wedding and failed to return the gifts he had provided. The dispute began when the man, who had gifted the woman cash and gold bars worth roughly Dh67,827 during their engagement, sought legal recourse after the breakup. Despite the woman initially acknowledging the debt in writing and promising to settle the matter, she eventually withdrew from the agreed-upon repayment plan, forcing the man to take the issue to the Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court.

During the legal proceedings, the woman had originally proposed a settlement of Dh60,000 to be paid in two installments; however, she later failed to appear in court to finalize the agreement. Because she did not dispute the validity of her previous written acknowledgment of the debt, the judge ruled in favor of the man. Consequently, the court mandated that she pay the full settlement amount, along with covering all associated legal expenses and court fees.
