UAE Twins Lead the Nation as Flagbearers at 2026 Asian Games
In a landmark moment for Emirati sports, fencing stars Al Hayam and Faris Al Balooshi served as the official flagbearers for the UAE at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. The twin siblings led their national delegation during the spectacular kickoff event, marking a significant personal achievement alongside their athletic careers. This year’s edition of the Games is notably massive in scale, featuring 469 medal events across 43 sports and hosting roughly 17,000 athletes and officials from 45 different nations.
The UAE has arrived in Japan with a strong contingent of 165 athletes competing across 21 disciplines, aiming to build upon the momentum of their successful 2022 campaign. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the Minister of Sports and Vice President of the UAE Olympic Committee, expressed his confidence in the team, emphasizing that the athletes are well-prepared to translate their rigorous training into podium finishes.
